The Aunt Polly’s™ Story
In 1912, my Aunt Polly was born in north Georgia. At an early age, she lost her Daddy and experienced many other hardships. She and her sister worked in the cotton fields for 10 cents an hour!
At age 17, my aunt moved to Anderson,
South Carolina to
help support her family by working in the mill.
I had the great opportunity to grow up in Anderson
and spend lots of time with my Aunt Polly. She taught me so much in life
and about life. I’m so thankful that God gave me this blessing. Aunt Polly passed away on November 30, 2007, but my love, respect and admiration for
this strong, Southern woman will continue to inspire the business of Aunt Polly’s™.
If I could sum up my Great Aunt’s life in one word, it would
be service. She sacrificed many things in life simply to help and serve others. She lived with my Granmamma to help take care of her until 2004, when my Granmamma
passed away. Of course, her character of service and sacrifice was rooted in
love. She was a selfless woman, full of love and concern for others. She also had that great talent of speakin’ her mind and tellin’ it like
it is. Anytime I needed a laugh, it’s a guarantee that I would get
one when I visited with her.
I want folks to be able to share their love of the South with their
kids through clothing. We Southerners love where we’ve come from and we
want our kids to love it too!
That little girl named Polly has a story. That story was passed down to me and I will pass it on to my children.
We hope that with Aunt Polly’s™ fine children’s clothing, you too can pass on your story –
the story of growin’ up in the South.
Thank you for your business and we hope you enjoy
this season’s collection of children’s clothes from Aunt Polly’s™. We’d love to hear any comments
and/or suggestions that would help us to better serve you.
Thank you,
Stephanie R. Canter, President of Aunt Polly’s™,

Aunt Polly
1912 - 2007
The Front Porch of Heaven
She
was sittin’ on the front porch, out in the country
Takin’
a break from the fields
Her
back was sore, her fingers blistered
And
no shoes to cover her heels
Those
were hard times... she would say
Those
cotton pickin’ days
With
no Daddy at home and five mouths to feed
She
still knew they’d be okay
She
knew she was rich for all that she had;
For
her family,
And
a Father in Heaven that she could call Dad.
She
was sittin’ on the front porch of a lil’ ole house
on
the corner... it overlooked the mill
At
age seventeen, this new home that she’d found
Would
be where her dreams were fulfilled
A
dream of providin’ for her Mama, her sister and brothers
And
anything left she’d give to others
She
knew she was rich for all that she had;
For
her family,
And
a Father in Heaven that she could call Dad
She
was sittin’ on the front porch, a lil’ worn and weathered
For,
like her, it had seen many years
She
looked back over her life, the good times and bad
And
her eyes were filled with tears
She
had loved so many and lost so many
She
had seen the entire world change
But
the blessings that she was able to see
Only
God could have arranged
She
knew she was rich for all that she had;
Her
family,
And
a Father in Heaven that she could call Dad
She’s
sittin’ on the front porch, of her very own mansion
In
Heaven, that God made for her
She’s
praising His name, worshipping Him and shouting “Blessed Redeemer!”
We
look back on her life now that she has departed
She
whispers to me, “No, My life has just started!”
“For
I know I am rich for all that I see,
I’m
sittin’ on the front porch with Jesus, my Daddy.”
